Eligibility Criteria

1. Gender & Marital Status:

  • Only unmarried Indian male candidates are eligible to apply.

2. Age Limit:

  • For 01/2027 Batch: Candidates must be born between 01 December 2004 and 31 May 2009 (both dates inclusive).
  • For 02/2027 Batch: Candidates must be born between 01 May 2005 and 31 October 2009 (both dates inclusive).

3. Educational Qualification:

  • Candidates must have passed the Matriculation Examination with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate from a recognized board.
  • Candidates must have completed a three-year diploma course from an AICTE-recognized Polytechnic Institute with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.
  • Eligible Diploma Streams:
    • Engineering: Marine Engineering & Systems, Mechanical, Production/Automobile, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Repair and Maintenance, Power Plant Engineering, Industrial/Production, Maintenance, Machine, Manufacturing/Manufacturing Technology, Mechatronics, Metallurgy, Instrumentation, Electronics Instrumentation and Control Engineering.
    • Electrical: Electrical, Electronics & Communication, Instrumentation Technology, Electronics, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics Instrumentation and Control Engineering.

Salary & Benefits

  • Monthly Pay: Agniveers will receive a customized package of ₹30,000 per month with a fixed yearly increment.
  • Seva Nidhi Package: Upon completion of the four-year engagement, candidates will receive a one-time Seva Nidhi package of Rs. 5.02 Lakh, which includes their accumulated contribution and a matching contribution by the Government.
  • Insurance Cover: A non-contributory Life Insurance Cover of Rs. 48 lakh will be provided for the duration of the engagement period.
  • Leave: 30 days of leave per year, plus applicable sick leave based on medical advice.

Selection Process

The recruitment will be conducted in multiple stages:

  • Stage I (INET): A computer-based Indian Navy Entrance Test comprising 100 objective-type questions covering English & General Awareness, Science, Mathematics, and Trade Specific Diploma subjects. Note: There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer.
  • Stage II: Shortlisted candidates will undergo a Physical Fitness Test (PFT), a Stage II Written Examination, and a Recruitment Medical Examination.
  • Final Stage: Pre-Enrolment Medicals will be conducted at INS Chilka.

Written Examination Details

Stage I: INET (Indian Navy Entrance Test)

  • Mode of Exam: Computer-based online examination.
  • Number of Questions: 100 questions, with each carrying 1 mark.
  • Duration: 1 hour (60 minutes).
  • Question Type: Objective type (Multiple-Choice Questions).
  • Language: Bilingual (available in both Hindi & English).
  • Exam Sections: The paper is divided into four distinct sections:
    • English & General Awareness
    • Science
    • Mathematics
    • Diploma (Trade Specific)
  • Stream Separation: Separate exams will be conducted for the Electrical and Engineering entries.
  • Passing Criteria: Candidates must secure passing marks in each individual section as well as in the overall aggregate.
  • Negative Marking: There is a penalty for wrong answers. For every incorrect response, one-fourth ($0.25$) of the mark assigned to that question will be deducted.

Stage II: Written Examination

  • Eligibility: Only candidates who successfully qualify the Physical Fitness Test (PFT) will be permitted to sit for the Stage II written exam.
  • Number of Questions: 100 questions, with each carrying 1 mark.
  • Duration: 1 hour (60 minutes).
  • Question Type: Objective type (Multiple-Choice Questions).
  • Language: Bilingual (available in both Hindi & English).
  • Exam Sections: Identical to Stage I, the test comprises four sections:
    • English & General Awareness
    • Science
    • Mathematics
    • Diploma (Trade Specific)
  • Stream Separation: Two separate exams will be conducted based on the streams (Engineering and Electrical).
  • Passing Criteria: Candidates are required to pass in all individual sections as well as in the aggregate.

How to Apply

  • Eligible candidates must apply online strictly through the official website: https://joinindiannavy.gov.in.
  • New users must click on “Register” and register as AVR (Apprentice), then log in to apply for the INET 2/26 exam.
  • Candidates are required to upload a recent passport-size colour photograph (size 10 KB to 50 KB, taken not before May 2026) with the date of the photograph clearly written at the bottom.
  • A live photograph will also be captured via webcam during the application process.
