### Eligibility Criteria

1. Educational Qualification

  • General Category: Must have passed Higher Secondary (HS) [10+2] or its equivalent examination from a recognized Board/Council with at least 50% marks in aggregate.
  • SC / ST(P) / ST(H) Categories: A relaxation of 5% is provided, meaning a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate is required.
  • Note: Marks secured in the optional, extra, or fourth subject are strictly excluded when calculating the aggregate percentage.

2. Age Limit (as on July 1, 2026)

  • Minimum Age: 18 Years
  • Maximum Age: 34 Years
  • Upper Age Relaxation: Up to 2 years of relaxation is applicable for SC, ST(P), and ST(H) candidates (maximum 36 years).

3. Residential Status

  • The candidate must be a permanent resident of Assam.

### Reservation Details & Stream Allotment

  • Seat Allotment Policy: Reservation of seats follows the prevailing statutory policy for OBC/MOBC, SC, ST(P), ST(H), PWD (Visually Impaired, Hearing Impaired, Orthopedically Handicapped), and EWS categories.
  • Stream-wise Reservation: In every district, 30% of total seats are reserved for candidates coming from the Science Stream, while the remaining 70% of seats are allocated for Arts & other streams.

### Admission & Course Fee Structure (Per Annum)

Government Teacher Education Institutes (TEIs):

  • Admission Fee: ₹150/-
  • Tuition Fee: ₹1,200/- (calculated at ₹100/- per month)
  • Electricity Fee: ₹600/- (for non-hostellers) or ₹900/- (for hostel boarders)
  • Internal Fees (Games, Magazine, Workshop, Observation Days): ₹900/- total
  • Examination Fee: ₹2,000/- (paid separately during semester form fill-up at ₹1,000/- per semester).
  • Hostel accommodation is provided free of cost, subject to seat availability. Trainees must bear their own food expenses.

Private Teacher Education Institutes (TEIs):

  • Total Consolidated Fee: ₹34,000/- per annum (includes ₹2,000/- Admission, ₹21,600/- Tuition, ₹5,000/- Development, and other library, exam, and institutional fees).

### PET-2026 Exam Pattern & Syllabus

Admission is granted strictly based on district-wise merit determined by performance in the Pre-Entry Test.

  • Total Marks: 100 Marks
  • Question Type: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
  • Number of Questions: 100
  • Exam Duration: 2 Hours
  • Marking System: +1 mark for a correct response.
  • Negative Marking: 0.25 mark will be deducted for every incorrect response.

Syllabus Distribution:

  • Section I (35 Marks): General English (10 Marks), General Knowledge (15 Marks), and Logical/Analytical Reasoning (10 Marks).
  • Section II (65 Marks): General Mathematics (15 Marks), General Science & EVS (15 Marks), Social Science (20 Marks), and Language Proficiency Test—Assamese/Bangla/Bodo/English (15 Marks).

    • Passport Photograph: Colour, JPEG format, maximum size 100 kb.
    • Signature: Black/dark blue ink on white paper, JPEG format, size 3.5cm x 2.5cm, maximum size 100 kb.
    • Age Proof (Class 10 Admit Card/Certificate): PDF format, maximum size 450 kb.
    • Higher Secondary (10+2) Marksheet & Pass Certificate: PDF format, maximum size 450 kb.
